“Edvocate gave us the opportunity to cut through the emotionally charged issues in the District and focus on the facts facing the department. It was the concise but detailed overview we needed.”
– Dr. Sandra Suplicki, Superintendent
Client: | Canterbury Public Schools, Connecticut |
Service: | Assessment of Custodial and Facilities departments including management structure, budget comparison, and operational alternatives models with budget impacts. |
Edvocate: | Performed an assessment focused on the custodial, maintenance and grounds department management functions; labor utilization and productivity; accountability and controls of the department; organization structure and current methods of service delivery. Thoroughly analyzed the department budgets and compared it to other district’s best practices. Toured and inspected each school to determine/measure actual service levels and satisfaction levels. We interviewed all user constituencies. Provided the District with three operational alternatives along with what budget impacts are as compared to the current operational model. Assisted in presentation of results to the public and provided support for the implementation of recommended changes. |
Result: | Administration and Board moved forward on changes that had lacked unified Board support in the past. Subjective opinion was replaced with facts and objective hard data. The District’s management organization was restructured to deliver quantifiable and accountable results to the entire District. |
Benefit: | District was able to present and pass a comprehensive budget based on community support of unified goals. |
